4/17/2013 Barriers Based on Our Identity

Today, their are ongoing debates about if race is still an issue in our country. Even some of the people that think it is still an issue, don't think that it impacts a person's life. What do you think????

First- Take 15 minutes to write your honest response to :

  1. Is race still a factor in how people are treated in our country? Do people still face barriers in society today due to their race?

    • Make a claim

    • Support your claim with specific evidence (make connections to everything you know about life in America)

      • Minimum 5 sentence to receive a 3 for discussion preparation.

Next- Respond to a person who shared your opinion and who didn't share your opinion about the validity of their opinion. 8 minutes total

  • What do you agree with? Why do you agree?

  • What do you disagree with? Why do you disagree?

    • You must respond to at least 2 people, stating your stance and elaborating (explaining) to receive a 3 for reflect on points of agreement and disagreement.

Then- Watch the video-

    • You must mention details from this video in your final response to receive ANY credit.

Finally- Then respond to yourself on your original post OR on your response to others to say if your opinion has changed or remained the same.

  • You must respond to this to get a 3 for participating in a thoughtful exchange of ideas.

America, land of the brave, home of the free...

Evaluate your thoughts and the thoughts of others on this "great nation."

First- Take 10 minutes to write your honest response to "Is America the greatest country in the world?"
